One of the things I do as a Trustee is attend the Wednesday night firefighter drills. I am interested in knowing what skills the firefighters practice. One of the drills I participated in was an ice water rescue drill. It was January, very cold, and the firefighters were practicing pulling people out of a pond. I put on a dry suit & went into the water to practice rescuing & being rescued. I am impressed with the lengths our fire department will go to in order to rescue us. I wish that everyone in Warrenville could see our firefighters the way I see them.
The Trail Riders of DuPage invited the WFPD to drill with their horses, to prepare for emergencies like a car crash involving a horse trailer or a barn fire. We practiced leading and calming horses at St James Farm.
